On Sunday May 26th 2019, Brunswick County Public Utilities issued the following notice to area utilities:

Due to drought conditions combined  with the increased amount of visitors in the area during the holiday weekend, Brunswick County Public Utilities is experiencing record water demands.  We request that all public water system consumers use water wisely during the Memorial Day holiday and defer irrigation and other high water use activities until after sunset on Monday.  This request is directed to all public water system customers in Brunswick County inclusive of those being served by utilities receiving their water from Brunswick County Public Utilities such as Bald Head Island, Brunswick Regional – H2GO, Holden Beach, Leland, Navassa, Northwest, Oak Island, Ocean Isle Beach, Shallotte, and Southport.  It does not affect customers using water from their own well.  Tips on how you can use water wisely may be found on Brunswick County’s website under Utilities / “Informational Brochures.”
