NC Executive Order 124

On March 31, 2020, Governor Roy Cooper issued Executive Order 124 which prohibits utility shut-offs, prohibits late fees and reconnection fees from being applied, requires a payment arrangement for accumulated arrearages, and requires weekly reporting by utility service providers to the NC Utilities Commission. Executive Order 124 applies to ALL water and wastewater systems in the state as defined in Section 1 of the order. This includes all political subdivisions, organizations, quasi-governmental entities, businesses, investor-owned public utilities, private companies, and member-owned cooperatives that provide directly to end-user residential water and/or wastewater customers.
