The Board of Commissioners of H2GO would like to inform our customers that our water rates will be increasing 14 cents per 1,000 gallons effective July 1st, 2011. In these tough economic times we understand that this news may worry those who are already on a restrictive budget. We did not come to this decision without due consideration. Since 2005 the wholesale price of water that the District pays to Brunswick County has increased from $2.25 to an estimated $2.75 per 1,000 gallons. The District over the last six years was able to find saving in other areas to avoid passing the wholesale water costs increases to our customers. Unfortunately with overall price increases, not limited to fuel, electricity, and wholesale water costs we are unable to continue that trend in this fiscal year. In 2005 our customers would have paid $21.00 for residential usage of 6,000 gallons of water. July 1, 2011 the same 6,000 gallons of residential usage of water will cost $21.27. The District strives to provide the best quality service for the lowest price to our customers and will continue to look for cost savings in order to achieve this goal.
Also, at this time we would also like our customers to be conscious of the District’s Water Tower and Ground Storage Tank with Booster Pump that is now online and providing increased pressures. It would be advisable to check any automatic sprinklers and/or irrigation systems’ time allocations to adjust for the increased pressure and increased volume that is being provided.
